U.S. stocks start week in aimless fashion

U.S. stocks were little moved Monday with the major indices finishing the day mixed.
Tech stocks were out of favor while the industrials forged only minor gains.
At the close of trading Monday the Dow Jones Industrials were up 17.46 points or 0.16% at 10,642.15. It was the fifth day in a row that the Dow rose, however volume was less than one billion shares, and there were more stocks that fell (249) than those that gained (241).
The Nasdaq Composite lost 5.45 points or 0.23% to 2,362.21.
The Standard and Poor's 500 was down 0.52 of a point or 0.05% to 1,150.51.
Currencies were also mixed. The euro finished the New York trading session Monday around 1.3680, down from Friday's close.
The Japanese yen was a tad stronger at 90.23, while the British pound edged down to 1.5057.
The Australian dollar was about a third-of-a-cent weaker at .9134. The Canadian dollar was stronger at 1.0188. The Swiss franc was slightly lower at 1.0610.
